TAORMINA (MESSINA) (ITALPRESS) – From competitiveness to security, from bureaucratic simplification to energy sovereignty, to the defense of cohesion, agriculture and fisheries. The “Document of Taormina”, discussed these days, traces the course of the Group of the European People’s Party for the second half of the legislature, indicating the political priorities to be achieved by 2029.
“The Taormina Study Days – says Euro MP Marco Falcone, Deputy Head of Forza Italia Delegation in the EPP and promoter of the initiative in Sicily – represented a decisive step to dressing, define a common vision and translate it into concrete objectives. The participation of Manfred Weber, Roberta Metsola, Ursula von der Leyen, Antonio Tajani and the popular European leaders gave strength to a comparison that looks directly at the challenges to be won in the coming years in the interest of citizens. With the head of the Fulvio Martusciello delegation and the colleagues of Forza Italia in Brussels we will carry out these commitments”.
Among the priorities set out by the EPP Group, the relaunch of European competitiveness, the reduction of administrative burdens for enterprises and farmers, the reduction of energy costs, the strengthening of defence and border control, investments in innovation and artificial intelligence.
It is also central to the next multiannual financial framework, with the protection of territorial cohesion and adequate support for agriculture, fisheries and island regions. “For Sicily, hosting this event is an opportunity of prestige and responsibility. Now we have to grasp the challenge: innovation, ability to attract investments and above all a more modern, fast and efficient public administration. Our island can be the protagonist of European policies if it will be able to transform this centrality into projects, development and opportunities for citizens and businesses,” Falcone concludes.
