Palermo, awarded pediatrician Giovanni Muscolino and Neonatologia di Villa Serena

PALERMO (ITALPRESS) – Giovanni Muscolino, Head of the Functional Unit of Neonathology of the Casa di Cura Villa Serena in Palermo, received the 17th pediatric research prize “Stretto di Messina”. The prestigious award was awarded during the 26th National Meeting of Translational Pediatric Paths – Letojanni/Taormina 2026. The award crowns a professional path characterized by enthusiasm, competence, commitment and managerial vocation. At the same time, it enhances the contribution of Muscolino and his team to make the Neonathology of Villa Serena a medical excellence in Sicily for assistance to premature infants, the care of pathologies at birth and the neonatal intermediate pathology. This goal coincides with the tenth year of activity of the Functional Unit of the Clinic, a department open to the territory that welcomes newborns addressed to the Clinic from hospital emergency and pediatricians of free choice and private. Today the Neonathology of Villa Serena is a consolidated, safe and efficient reality: it has 10 beds of neonatal intermediate pathology and guarantees a service service similar to that hospital, thanks to the presence of h24 of a neonatologist doctor and an anesthesiologist. The congress “I Percorsi Pediatrici – Letojanni/Taormina 2026” was organized by the APG (Pediatric Association of Immunology and Genetics). The event obtained the patronage of the College of Directors of the Schools of Specialization of Italian Pediatrics and important scientific societies such as the Italian Society of Immunology and Pediatric Allergology, the Italian Society of Pediatric Nephrology and the Italian Society of Pediatric Endocrinology. The initiative also sponsored the Order of Doctors Chirurghi and Odontoiatri of Messina, the Municipalities of Letojanni and Taormina and the Lions Club Letojanni/Valle Alcantara, with the contribution of prestigious companies in the sector. -photo press office Villa Serena – (ITALPRESS).
