Others brutally killed or kidnapped in their homes, without any pity for children and the elderly. Terrorism can never be justified or stored. “The repugnant acts which, with extreme and inhuman cruelty, were committed on October 7, 2023 – continues – reopened in the region a dramatic phase of instability and violence. The atrocious sufferings caused are added to what, even more since then, weighs on many Palestinians. The military operations carried out by the Israeli forces in Gaza caused human devastation and intolerable gravity. At the same time, the process of erosion of territories attributed to the Palestinian National Authority is unacceptable. The spiral of unprecedented violence must be stopped, instead recreating the presumed, today deeply compromised, of the coexistence between Israelis and Palestinians in the perspective “Two Peoples, Two States”, in order to be able to live peacefully, side by side. Italy will continue to support every effort aimed at this goal. In this circumstance I wish to renew the closeness of the Italian Republic to the people of Israel, to the families of the victims and to those who still carry the wounds of that terrible day, hoping that the determination of the whole international community will strengthen to build lasting conditions so that there is peace and security for those marathed lands and peoples,” he concludes.
