The event of the Campus Salute in Scampia, which took place from 1 to 3 October at the Parish Maria SS del Buon Rimedio in Naples, ended with an extraordinary success. During the three days dedicated to health prevention and protection, approximately 4,000 specialist medical services were provided for free, reaffirming the fundamental value of the event in ensuring access to care and promoting correct lifestyles in the most vulnerable areas of Naples.
The initiative is promoted by the Association Campus Salute, born in Naples with the aim of bringing quality medical care to the weakest of the population. This year, the Neapolitan stage took place in the district of Scampia, symbol of social discomfort but also of rebirth and solidarity, thanks to the collaboration with the parish led by Fr Alessandro Gargiulo.
A moment of great emotion and spirituality accompanied the event, with Fr Gargiulo who blessed and prayed for all the volunteers, doctors and nurses involved. “The social mission of the Church, with gratuitousness and assistance to the most needy, was fully realized on this occasion thanks to the Health Campus,” said the priest, stressing the importance of initiatives such as this in the Neapolitan social fabric.
Professor Annamaria Colao, Vice-President of the National Health Council, pointed out that the choice of reproposing this stage in Scampia for the third consecutive year was dictated by the desire to bring citizens more disadvantaged to the culture of prevention. “ Spreading correct lifestyles and offering free health services are the first steps to protect everyone’s health,” he said.
The president of the Campus Salute ETS, Pasquale Antonio Riccio, has instead announced that the experience of Naples will be replicated abroad, with the next stage planned in New York, from 8 October, in collaboration with the IARL – Italy America Reputation Lab and the group of IlNewyorkese, coordinated by Davide Ippolito. “Our goal is to reach the most peripheral and disadvantaged areas, bringing the culture of prevention even beyond national borders,” said Riccio.
In the course of the Neapolitan event, volunteer doctors have offered specialized services in numerous clinics active on shifts, including endocrinology, dermatology, diabethology, nutrition, eco abdomen, vascular surgery, gynecology, pneumology, breast, gastroenterology, fibroscan and cardiology. Users could use visits and controls at modern and equipped facilities, free of charge and accessible to all.
The success of this edition once again shows how the synergy between volunteering, institutions and communities can generate tangible results, improving the quality of life of the most needy people. The next appointment with the Health Campus will be in New York, where you will continue to carry out this important mission of prevention and care.
