Fuels, Urso “To work to extend the discounts of oil companies”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “We are working to ensure that the significant discounts that have made oil companies in Italy are extended over time.” The Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso told Rainews24, pointing out the measures to contain fuel prices.

“The extraordinary initiative, unique in Europe, to put a roof at the price of fuels has been successful,” explained Urso, adding that “it will serve to structurally calm the prices for the coming months”.

But, Urso explained, “we know that the emergency will continue.” This is why the government also aims to increase the production of refineries. “I have convened for Thursday all the refineries of Italy because it can help to increase its production, which is the weakest knot of the fuel industry in Europe.”.

The minister recalled that he was at Isab in Priolo, “which we have safeguarded in these years and that today he returned to the hands of an Italian company”.

The theme, Urso continued, must also be addressed at European level. “We are going to ask, and do in Europe,” Urso said, explaining that “the Commission can act to increase the production of refineries.” “To date, Europe has committed itself to closing refineries in the Green Deal logic. Today we are in emergency and we have to work,” he added. On the national front, “I will listen to the companies with minister Pichetto Fratin and refer to the President of the Council”.

As for the other measures, Urso recalled that “we are working on mobile excise duties, returning the extrajettito dell’Iva”, while the government aims to ensure that the discounts paid by companies “are extended over time”.
