ROMA (ITALPRESS) – According to the preliminary estimates Istat, in September the national index of consumer prices for the entire community (NIC), to the gross of tobacco, recorded a change of +0.7% on a monthly basis and to +4.2% on an annual basis (from +3.3% of the previous month). The tendential acceleration of inflation is mainly attributable to the trend of the prices of energy, both regulated (from +18.6% to +25.9%) and unregulated (from +17.0% to +2.2%), and unworked food (from +3.8% to +5.5%); the prices of recreational, cultural and care services (from +2.6% to +2.9%) and services related to.
The underlying inflation, calculated net of fresh energy and food, rises from +1.5% to +1.7%, as well as that net of only energy goods, from +1.7% to +2.0%. The increase in the rate of growth of the prices of the goods (from +4.1% to +5.4%) is more marked than that of the services (from +2.4% to +2.6%). The differential between the service sector and that of the goods is expanded, from -1,7 to -2,8 percentage points.
In increase the increase tendential increase both of the prices of food, for the care of the house and the person (from +0.9% to +1.7%) and of those of the products with high frequency of purchase (from +4.3% to +5.3%). The change in the general index mainly reflects the increase in the prices of regulated energy (+5.9%) and unregulated (+4.4%), unworked food (+2.2%) and recreational, cultural and personal care services (+0.5%).
The prices for transport services (-2.5%) and processed foodstuffs (-0.3%) are decreasing on a monthly basis. The average inflation of 2026 in September rose to +3.1% for the general index and remained stable at +1.9% for the underlying component. According to the preliminary estimates, the harmonised index of consumer prices (IPCA) recorded a change of +2.0% on a monthly basis, due to the end of the summer balances of which the NIC does not take account, and to +4.1% on an annual basis (from +3.2% of the previous month).
