It will also be equipped with an area of advanced research laboratories for neuroscience and oncology. It will therefore be a public health hospital of clinical research and training, unique in Italy and among the major in Europe. It will work in synergy with the existing hospital network, activating a set of integrated services. The operational forecast is about 24,000 admissions per year and over one and a half million annual examinations and outpatient performance. With the approval of the second supplementary Act to the programme agreement, provided by a resolution of 3 August 2026, the Regional Council proceeded with the updating of the Economic Technical Framework of the work and the updating of the Task Schedule. In particular, the following stages are envisaged: construction of the new station,car parks and roads, by 12/10/2027; construction works for the excellent accessibility to be realized in times different from the entry into operation of the structure, by 30/11/2027; realization of the City of Health and Research, end of work 21/09/2029 and test 20/03/2030.
