PORDENONE (ITALPRESS) – “This 27th edition of Pordenonelegge takes place in the middle of the celebrations for the 80th of the Republic, the choice of the Italian people for an order that guaranteed freedom and democracy, growth of rights, peace and progress. We have the right to be proud of the road traveled.” The President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella said this in his speech at the closing ceremony of Pordenonelegge.
“To make Italy progress, the ballot was the unarmed weapon of legitimate confrontation, after the dictatorship and its war. They are the dialogue between cultures, the comparison of ideas, the engines of history. And in the wake of our history of these eighty years, this initiative, Feast of Book and Freedom,” added the Head of State.
“Starting from the book, from reading as an exercise of freedom, from knowledge, Pordenonelegge has been able to recognize its own characteristics of promoting the freedom of thought of people – he emphasized the head of the state -. Not by chance, the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union sanctions the right of every European citizen to express themselves and to receive or communicate information and ideas without having to suffer public interference and without frontier limits. Culture and freedom do not stop at borders.”
