Dialogue, meeting and diplomacy in “The courage of peace” by Remind

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Promote dialogue and cooperation among peoples to build a future of stability, security and shared development. This is the goal of “The Courage of Peace” by Remind, which, coming to its fourth edition, takes place precisely on the occasion of the International Day of Peace and that considering the presence, among others, of Giuseppe Quintavalle, president Fiaso and General Director Asl Roma 1, Renato Loiero of the President of the Council, Gen. Luciano Portolano, Chief of Staff of Defense; Lamberto Giannini, Prefect of Rome.

“For four years we have spoken of peace declined in all its meanings, the ways of peace are different, but there is the common feeling of doing good and giving security to people. Often violence is told while daily there are good experiences and you must have the duty to tell them. It is important that each of us may choose to have the courage of peace.” Paolo Crisafi, Knight of the Grand Cross and President Remind.

Antonella Sberna, Vice President of the European Parliament, said in a video message that “Peace requires courage because it serves courage to reflect, to face the reasons of the other and to try to find a solution. Peace is not only lack of war, it is concrete commitment, it is able to build together. Disarmament does not only mean intervention on arsenals but also on words, on contrasts, means to put the person in the center. We live complex times, the wars at the borders of our continent are redefining international balances and questioning our democracies. The EU has an important responsibility because it comes from a choice of peace, from the decision of peoples who, after the devastation of war, had the courage to put themselves around a table and build a different future. We need a strong and cohesive Europe, we must continue to believe in what unites us because what unites us must be stronger than what divides us,” he added.

Gen. Luciano Portolano, Chief of Staff of Defence, recalled that the term peace in the armed forces takes place every day through operations to support peace. “Peace must be built with effort and sacrifice, with the real will to change an environment of conflict in a stable environment. Love, justice, freedom and truth, the four pillars of peace, indicated them in his encyclical a person who had worn the uniform: Angelo Roncalli. Who had seen the war closely wrote the highest pages on what we call peace today. Those pages are still current, indeed, today are more than yesterday because peace and stability do not inherit, defend themselves day after day with difficult and sometimes unpopular choices – he observed -. For a long time we have confused peace with the simple absence of conflicts, but peace is not silence is an order that must be sought with activity and commitment and rests on the security of citizens, stability of institutions and credibility of the state. The courage of peace is not the courage of those who do not fear war, but it is the courage of those who know what it is and who prepares every day to avoid it. Peace is not inherited, we must build it all together and we must be able to protect it and defend it.”.

Giuseppe Quintavalle, President Fiaso and General Manager Asl Roma 1, noted that “health can intervene on peace because care and peace have a common root: to put the person in the center. The Italian SSN enjoys excellent health, it is universal and free and these concepts, together with that of peace, are important because it is a theme that challenges all of us, we need peace. Peace is built with dialogue that brings together different perspectives that arise from an authentic confrontation. They are special times where every progress makes sense only if it remains at the service of the person; we are public health therefore we innovate, we are efficient, but we do not lose humanity and we guarantee equity”.

Gianmarco Mazzi, Minister of Tourism, in a video message recalled that “tourism is synonymous with peace, a very powerful tool because it is synonymous with hospitality, builds bridges between cultures, peoples and religions”.

The prefect of Rome, Lamberti Giannini, emphasised another danger to peace and security: the misinformation that “was fought with truth because from a sense of security to citizens. There are various types of misinformation, the one that attacks the markets but also for what concerns the city’s reality propalare of false news or, as has often happened, to make sure that they are filmed for the social of the images or the disorders created specifically to be able to be resumed for the views. This is something that I think must be fought very firmly. To this peace we also have those who daily care with a kind of hybrid war that is that of disinformation – he reiterated – that creates fear and on which one can speculate. True security is only working for truth, justice and solidarity, law enforcement forces must return the truth to citizens so many fears can be resized.”.

Maurizio Leo, vice-minister of Economy and Finance, in a video message also spoke about the economic relapses of conflicts and stressed that “the courage of economic peace means making challenging choices for citizens and businesses. We are witnessing different conflicts and this is leading to negative relapses for the country system, all of this we are facing with interventions that go in the direction of helping citizens and businesses and we do so with the hope that they are limited. The courage of peace means working all in the direction of making conflicts turn to the epilogue.”.

Orazio Schillaci, Minister of Health, in a message recalled that “Peace is not only about relations between States, it is an essential condition of people’s lives and the right to health occupies a central place. Conflicts destroy health structures, stop access to care and leave wounds. Health is a tool of peace and taking care of people means building trust and strengthening ties. To guarantee each person the right to care means to affirm every day the principle of human dignity which finds its recognition only in a society of peace “, he concluded.
