ROMA (ITALPRESS) – In Italy, the level of vaccination varies from one territory to another. There are areas where most children have been vaccinated and others where coverage remains low. To bridge this gap and make prevention an equal right for all, the National Health Assistant Commission of the Fno Tsrm and Pstrp indicates three ways: “inform families better, listen to doubts and strengthen territorial services with specialised personnel”. The data 2025 of the Ministry of Health – born in 2023 – continue to highlight a country at more speed on vaccinations, with significant differences between the territories. There are 13 autonomous regions and provinces that do not reach the threshold of 95% for exavalent vaccination, a percentage of coverage necessary to ensure the immunity of flocks. The most critical situations occur in Sicily (85.88%) and in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano (87.39%). “It means that, depending on the territory where you live, a child is more or less likely to be protected from dangerous infectious diseases” is the comment of Daniela Addis, president of the Albo Commission.
According to Health Caregivers to strengthen vaccination, prevention policies must pursue three specific guidelines. First, disinformation must be countered, promoting and strengthening Vaccine Literacy, putting families under the conditions of seeking, understanding and critically evaluating vaccination information and recognizing reliable health sources. For this reason, it is necessary to develop structured paths of health and digital literacy on the territory, intercepting the information needs of the different population groups, with a constant and competent presence of health services, both in daily activities and on the web. The second priority is to enhance the pre-vaccination interview, which cannot be considered a bureaucratic passage. It is a moment in which trust is built, concern is heard and families are placed in the condition of making an informed choice. It is also an opportunity for education to health and to intercept needs. For this reason it must have adequate time, space and professional recognition. The third director concerns an indispensable condition for implementing the first two: the availability of competent staff and adapted to the needs of the population. Prevention departments should be able to count on professional resources tailored to the needs of the population and the workloads. Strengthening staff with Healthcare Assistants can help increase the capacity of services to inform, intercept needs, accompany people and ensure greater capillaryness of prevention and vaccination activities. Prevention cannot be a different right depending on the territory in which you live. They are reiterated by the Albo Commission. The three proposals are concrete investments for equity and public health. “Informing, listening and strengthening services must become structural elements of vaccination prevention policies. A strategy necessary to reduce territorial differences, consolidate confidence in the SSN and protect collective health” concludes President Addis.
