The Cdm extends the cut of excise duties on diesel until 17 September. Meloni “Next on national production of oil and gas”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The Council of Ministers, at the end of a session lasting about 10 minutes, approved – as it is learned – the extension of the cut of excise duties on diesel for a week. The measure will be valid until Thursday 17 September.

“Today we take a step further to strengthen Italian energy security. In these years we have diversified the sources of supply, we have tightened new agreements with the producing countries, we have strengthened the role of Italy as an energy hub in the Mediterranean and on the front of the renewable energies we have installed so far 28 gigawatts in more, doing three times better than what was done in the same period by those who today moralize on green energy. We have allocated more than 60 billion d to protect citizens and businesses from high energy, we have strengthened and expanded social well-being to millions of families, we have helped small and large companies to have lighter bills. And then, on the excise, the cut that has been extended today to keep under control the cost of gasoline and diesel, waiting for new measures, which are coming next week”. So in a video published on social media premier Giorgia Meloni. “But of course it is not enough: it is necessary to do more to build structural and long-term solutions. We have had the courage to reopen the nuclear road and we want to continue on the increase in national production of oil and gas, because it does not make much sense to buy this energy abroad when we can also produce it here in Italy”, he adds.

“This is the goal of the rule that has been dismissed today by the Council of Ministers, it will allow the State to appoint commissioners who help regions cut time and release much faster permits and concessions for research, exploration and extraction of hydrocarbons in our territory. Because Italy cannot afford to wait decades before unlocking a concession. Increasing national production means reducing foreign dependence, paying less, guaranteeing lower costs to households and businesses, defending the energy security of the nation, as well as generating greater royalty and economic and employment benefits for territories. To the professionals of the no, who already obviously announce barricades, I want to say something quite simple: we will go ahead all the way, because this means being patriots and defending the Italian national interest”, concludes Meloni.
