Member of the Chamber for three legislatures, from 2006 to 2018, Bernardo chaired the Finance Commission of the Chamber of Deputies from 2015 to 2018. He previously held several positions in the Lombardy Region, as councilman and regional councillor.
He is currently president of AssoFintech, the Italian association of Fintech and Insurtech operators.
