We have a new number of New Yorkers to let you discover, and we will present it on Wednesday, September 16 at 18 at the 22nd of the 10 Times Square, the new headquarters of Piazza Italia. The evening will be one of the first initiatives hosted in the Piazza Italia Social Club, inaugurated at the end of June and designed for meetings, events and activities related mainly to companies and the Italian community in the United States. After the presentation there will also be a DJ set and a moment of networking with guests, editing, professionals, entrepreneurs and creatives who live and work in New York. Participation is free of charge, with compulsory registration and limited places.
Among the protagonists of number 17 is Riccardo Fois, assistant coach of the New York Knicks, who will participate in the presentation. Fois is part of the staff led by Mike Brown and has come back from the season in which the Knicks won the NBA title for the first time since 1973, beating the San Antonio Spurs in the Finals. Before arriving in New York he also worked with Phoenix Suns and Sacramento Kings and American college basketball. In our number he tells a path built almost entirely in the United States, up to one of the most prominent roles in American professional sport, today occupied by an Italian.
The cover is dedicated instead to Alice Lussiana Parente, an Italian actress who lives in New York since 2014 and protagonist of the New York Story, the feature film produced by N41 Studios that tells the city through the history of our editorial project. The film occupies an important part of the new issue, along with other stories related to cinema and cultural industry. Among these is the interview with Angela Russo-Otstot, Chief Creative Officer of AGBO, the study founded by brothers Anthony and Joe Russo and involved in the last years in the productions of Everything Everywhere All at Once, Extraction and The Electric State.
The other pages cross sports, institutions, business and society. Andrea Abodi, Minister for Sport and Youth, entrepreneur Riccardo Silva and Silvia Salis, together with Maria Teresa Cometto and Glauco Maggi. The latter have been living in New York since 2000 and told the United States traveling far from the big cities: for the project (re)Covering America have traveled about 20 thousand miles in 105 days, while in August their new book Da Giuliani to Mamdani came out. New York 25 years after September 11. In the magazine, their story expands the look beyond Manhattan and brings together very different experiences of contemporary America.
During the evening there will be a space dedicated to the Future Leaders, young Italians and Italians who are building their own path in New York, in collaboration with United Italian Societies. The organization brings together associations of Italian students in tens of universities and in recent years has promoted meetings between students, professionals and institutions also in New York. It is a theme that we wanted to bring even inside the presentation of the number: next to the already established people told in his pages, give space to those who are now beginning to build relationships, work and projects in the city.
