MONACO DI BAVIERA (ITALPRESS) – Daiichi Sankyo (TSE:4568) today announced new results of the MILOS study, which demonstrate the impact of bempedoic acid in the management of dyslipidemia in real clinical practice, both in monotherapy and in fixed dose association with ezetimibe.
Presented at the ESC 2026 Congress in Munich, the results show that clinically relevant cholesterol reductions linked to low-density lipoproteins (C-LDL), obtained within the first year of treatment, are expected to be associated with a clinically significant reduction of the cardiovascular risk (CV) estimated at 10 years.
The data further strengthens the clinical value of bempedoic acid and its fixed dose association with ezetimibe in a wide variety of subgroups of patients, regardless of sex and glycemic profile (including diabetes, prediabetes and normoglycemia).
The main results of the new analysis of the MILOS study include: Reduced cardiovascular risk estimate at 10 years: an analysis of 960 risk patients estimated that an additional year of treatment with bempedoic acid could be associated with a relative risk reduction of 17.1% and an absolute risk reduction of 4.8% compared to the estimated risk of cardiovascular events over 10 years.
Constant efficacy in both sexes: bempedoic acid, administered in monotherapy or in fixed dose association with ezetimibe, showed a high effectiveness both in women and in men, resulting in a relative reduction of C-LDL 31% and 25% respectively.
Results confirmed independently of the glycemic state: the treatment based on bempedoic acid, with or without other hypopolymerizing therapies, has resulted in an average relative reduction of C-LDL equal to at least 24.9% and has increased the percentage of patients who have attained their therapeutic objectives of C-LDL within a year, regardless of the presence or not of diabetes.
