POMEZIA (ROMA) (ITALPRESS) – Alfasigma strengthens Pomezia’s productive pole with an investment plan of over 40 million euros in the two years 2026-2027. The project was presented by the president of the Lazio Region, Francesco Rocca, during a visit to the plant, in the presence of the Chief Technical Operations Officer of the pharmaceutical group Fabio Russo and the mayor of Pomezia, Veronica Felici. “Alfasigma is one of the historical pharmaceutical companies in our region. The historicity and quality of the products are added values for us. Being able to work together with the network of hospitals in Lazio and researchers is definitely something more for the Region,” said Rocca.
The goal is to consolidate the Lazio site as the Group’s centre of excellence for the production of oral solid forms. The plan previews the introduction of new plants and technologies, the strengthening of the production lines and the start of insourcing projects, with particular attention to the valorization of the Italian supply chain. At the same time, personnel skills will be developed through training programs and Operational Excellence paths. The Pomezia plant employs over 500 people and integrates production and research and development activities. LABIO 4.0 Marino Golinelli, a centre of about 5,000 square meters with laboratories and a GMP pilot plant for the development and industrialization of experimental drugs.
During the meeting, the international positioning of Alfasigma, the company’s contribution to the healthcare system and the main therapeutic areas in which it operates were illustrated. “This day was important because it allowed us to communicate the investment plan that Alfasigma planned for the site of Pomezia. We have planned to invest almost 50 million to make this site a center of excellence and to bring back within the site a series of products that are manufactured elsewhere today or at third-party sites – explained Fabio Russo, Chief Technical Operations Officer of Alfasigma – Further investments will interest the plant of Alanno, destined to strengthen its role in the production of sterile drugs. The plan confirms Alfasigma’s desire to consolidate its industrial presence in Italy, supporting innovation, qualified employment and international competitiveness.”.
