The ship Giovanni Delle Bande Nere will reach the Hawaii Islands, where it will make a logistic and operational stop from June 22 to July 7 at the historic naval base of Pearl Harbor. The activity is part of the projection campaign in the Indopacific dial and precedes the official participation of the unit, from 24 June to 31 July, to the 2026 edition of the Rim of the Pacific (RIMPAC), whose manoeuvres will take place in the Hawaii and the surrounding waters.
Specifically, it is the largest maritime exercise in the world, a structured event designed with the geopolitical and military objective to strengthen interoperability and tactical cooperation between the thirty-one participating nations.
Ship Giovanni Delle Bande Nere began his campaign of operational projection on May 3, date of departure from the naval base of Taranto. The overall programme provides for the rest in 10 ports, a strategic itinerary aimed at consolidating the national presence in the region in the context of a wider international cooperation. This activity is specifically aimed at enhancing the “Italian System” in technological, industrial and cultural terms, as well as promoting Italian excellence during the main events organized during the campaign.
In line with the strategic objectives of the campaign and the consolidation of the relations of international collaboration already started in the past from the units of the Navy, the stage of the unit in Honolulu assumes a fundamental importance.
The presence of Ship Giovanni Delle Bande Nere reiterates in a concrete way the will of the Italian Defense to represent the national ability to operate effectively in global marine contexts. The operation aims to strengthen cooperation with the Allied Marines and partners, promoting synergistically the protection of maritime communication lines and full respect for the freedom of navigation.
