Sace and Qatar Development Bank

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – On the occasion of TXF Global 2026, SACE, the Export Credit Agency directly participated by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and Qatar Development Bank (QDB) have signed a re-insurance agreement to support export credit operations involving Italian and Qatari suppliers in international markets. The agreement will allow SACE and QDB to collaborate on projects of common interest, opening new opportunities for Italian and Qatariote companies in third countries.

The participation of QDB will take place on Sharia-compliant basis, in line with the principles of Islamic finance: an element that makes this operation the first fully Sharia-compliant reinsurance initiative for SACE. “The agreement represents a further step in strengthening relations between Italy and Qatar and confirms the shared commitment of SACE and QDB to support the growth of enterprises and promote the development of international trade through dedicated solutions of insurance and risk sharing,” reads in a note.

“Together with Qatar Development Bank we put in place a concrete framework of collaboration to support export operations in third-party markets involving Italian and qatariota content. This agreement will help to open new opportunities for companies from both countries, facilitating access to international projects and strengthening their role in global value chains,” said Mario Melillo, SACE’s Chief Network Officer.

“This agreement bears witness to the growing dynamism and solidity of relations between Italy and Qatar. The partnership will help to open new opportunities on international markets for both countries and will represent a strategic flywheel for growth driven by exports,” said Paolo Toschi, Italian Ambassador to the State of Qatar.

“Partnership of this nature assumes an increasing importance in a context in which exporters are called to compete in increasingly international projects. The collaboration with SACE allows QDB to further strengthen support for qatarine exporting companies and to contribute to a framework of cooperation that can support growth ambitions on global markets as well as the Italian and Qatari exporters,” said Khalid Abdullah Al-Mana, Vice President of Enterprise Development of Qatar Development Bank and Executive Director of Qatar Exports.
