Marina Militare, Mattarella ” It is a precious garrison to guarantee the independence of the country”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “On the day dedicated to the Navy, I wish to address to all women and men who belong to the military and civil personnel the most intense wishes, extended to their families, together with the appreciation for the service rendered to the Republic, in Italy and abroad. A moving thought goes to the sailors who died in the fulfillment of duty, who with their sacrifice have witnessed dedication to the Homeland and fidelity to the constitutional values, in the homage to the Flag of the Armed Force that bears witness to its value. The women and men of the Navy are a precious presidium guaranteeing the independence of the country and their authoritative work in Italy’s action to protect peace and international cooperation, in a context burdened by conflicts and tensions from the Mediterranean, where the protection of energy and digital infrastructure, the safety and freedom of the routes assume an ever greater importance.” It says in a message sent to the Chief of Staff of the Navy, Admiral of Squadra, Giuseppe Berutti Bergotto, the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, on the occasion of the Feast of the Navy.

“The crews of naval units, submarines, aircraft, Brigade Marina San Marco and the special departments operating daily in the main theatres, from the Gulf of Guinea to the Somali basin and to the waters of the Indo-Pacific, are significant agents of international legality. Precious is the contribution, on the ground of safety of navigation, rescue at sea and the protection of the marine environment guaranteed by the Corps of the Harbour-Guardia Coast. The evolution of global balances requires ability to analyse, innovation, and constantly updated preparation. The Navy faces these challenges with commitment and foresight. The national community is grateful. Good wind! Viva la Marina Militare, viva le Forze Armate, viva la Repubblica” adds.
