ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Government work continues to attract high-tech strategic investments and to strengthen the competitiveness of the national production system in line with the national strategy for the attraction of foreign investments in data centers. The Minister of Business and Made in Italy, Adolfo Urso, met at Palazzo Piacentini Adaire Fox-Martin, Ceo and President of Equinix, and Emanuela Grandi, Managing Director Italy of the US company world leader in digital infrastructure, owner of over 280 data centers globally.
During the meeting, underlines the Mimit, the company’s leaders explained to the Minister and Mimit technicians a significant investment project on the Lombardy territory, destined to further strengthen the presence of the group in Italy and to consolidate the role of the country as a strategic hub for digital infrastructure in the Mediterranean.
The company has already been present for 12 years in Italy, where it has already created 5 data centers in Milan, Basilio, Settimo Milanese and Genoa, infrastructures that provide advanced digital services to both major global cloud operators and to small, medium and large Italian companies.
Today’s meeting follows the comparison between the Minister Urso and the President of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana, dedicated to the analysis of the evolution of investments in the data center sector and to the deepening of the opportunities offered by the recent regional legislation in this field. Comparison that led to the start of a Contact Group between Government and Region with the aim of ensuring the coordination of authorisation procedures and declaration of strategic interest, favoring an orderly and effective development of investments in the sector.
