ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “In the days when the 80th anniversary of the Republic is celebrated, the Carabinieri Corps is 212 years old. The Arma, from the beginning of the new order, has played a precious role, since the transition that has led to the consolidation of the republican institutions, in confirmation of an irreplaceable link with the communities of the territory, fulfilling the mission of guarantee of the security frame within which the freedoms of citizens guaranteed by the Constitution develop”. The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, says this in a message sent to the General Commander of the Carabinieri, Gen. C.A. Salvatore Luongo.
“The work of the Carabinieri, in the wake of a long history of fidelity to the Homeland, makes a contribution of great importance to collective security and to the daily living civil, inspiring, with professionalism to the values proper to the Body – adds Mattarella. Important presence in the peace missions in which Italy participates, in the geopolitical crisis and in the conflicts, the Carabinieri gather, in synergy with the other national and allied armed forces, appreciation also by the local authorities and the populations of the countries in which they were called to operate”.
For the Head of State “the sacrifice of women and men of the Armenian State calls for the recognition of the whole national community. In particular, I recall the figures of Marshal Carlo Legrottaglie, of the Carabiniere Sebastiano Marrone, of the Lieutenant Marco Piffari, of Marshal Valerio Daprà and of the Appointed Chosen Davide Bernardello. Their families are close to the whole national community. In expressing, on this day, the Carabinieri, in service and on leave, and to their loved ones, who share with trepidation the risks and sacrifices, the most intense feelings of gratitude of the Republic, I form to all the most affectionate wishes. Live the Carabinieri, live the Armed Forces, live the Republic!”.

In the country as abroad they never miss their presence, confirming themselves as a valuable reference point for our communities. On the day of the 21st Anniversary of foundation I wish to pay tribute to those who sacrificed their lives in fulfilling their duty, to those who were wounded in service and still bears scars and to those who every day, guided by the motto “in the faithful centuries”, honors the Arma with loyalty and spirit of service.
