ROMA (ITALPRESS) – In the thirteenth episode of Power Talks – The power of communication, the editorial format born from the collaboration between Italpress and Philia Associates, Jessica Nicolini collected the voices of the protagonists of the Tigullio Tourism Forum to deepen the strategic role of communication in the development of the territories with a focus on tourism, great events and the power of music.
At the center of the comparison – with the interventions of Tiziana Beghin, Councillor for Tourism of the Municipality of Genoa, of Nicolò Sasso, founder of OPS Eventi, and of Roberta Pinotti, president of the Fondazione Polo Nazionale della Dimensione Subacquea – the communication is confirmed today as a decisive lever to valorize cities, skills and new economies.
From the concert of Charlotte de Witte in Genoa to the growth of cultural tourism, to the underwater dimension as a new industrial and technological frontier, a clear vision emerges: the territories are no longer promoted only with words, but with events and content capable of generating attention.
“The concert of Charlotte de Witte was born from a strategy wanted by the mayor Silvia Salis to offer young people greater entertainment opportunities and make Genoa an increasingly attractive city – explains Beghin. We are a city with a very high average age, but for this reason we must create opportunities that allow young people to live the city and stay there.”.
The event had a great participation, attracting people from outside the city and generating unprecedented international visibility. In this path “social media have made a difference, especially to reach a young audience – the Councillor for Tourism emphasizes –. Today, to promote a tourist destination effectively, it is essential to use the new tools and new languages of communication”.
According to Sasso, the real strength of the event was the communication: “Thanks to shooting with drones, high quality images and spreading on social networks, the concert has become viral all over the world. They talked about the international events coming from Europe, South America and Asia.”.
The numbers show it, Charlotte de Witte earned “about a million followers in just one week, while the Municipality of Genoa and the mayor also recorded a significant growth in their online visibility. This shows how a well-designed event can become an extraordinary instrument of territorial promotion.”.
“When we talk about communication the contents and values are fundamental, but without communication we do not come anywhere – warns Pinotti -. If you do not make known the possibilities, potential and developments of an industry, in my case research and industrialization linked to the underwater dimension, projects fail to become reality. Communication is what allows us to build shared goals together with all the actors involved.”.
Compared to the past, “the way of communicating institutions has changed radically – he adds. When I was Minister of Defense, the main media was still newspapers, television, radio and news agencies. In the last ten years the transformation has been enormous: today we can no longer ignore social media, and new digital tools, although traditional media remain important“, concludes Pinotti.
