PERUGIA (ITALPRESS) – “For us work is a priority: we have always put at the heart of our action the need to give answers to wages and decent work.” This is what the Secretary General of Uil said, PierPaolo Bombardieri, today in Perugia, in the margin of the Regional Congress of Uil Umbria.
“In this country, numbers increase, but not the quality of employment: it is on this aspect that it is necessary to concentrate and intervene. Even the issue of safety at work – Bombardieri continued – remains a priority for us, because there are still more than a thousand deaths a year. We have taken steps forward, but we believe that we must do more on the front of prevention and training, also establishing the crime of murder for violations of safety norms and eradicating black labor, often due to serious accidents suffered by workers and exploited workers. We will not stop – said the leader of Uil – until we have reached the goal of zero deaths at work.”.
Bombardieri also answered questions about the current geopolitical crisis and the role of Europe: “In these years – he said – the principle of respect for international law has been questioned with consequences on the weakest people. Europe should change the Stability Pact rather than confirm the current rules of economic and financial policy, because – concluded Bombardieri – this crisis situation falls on the shoulders of the weakest and this is wrong and unacceptable”.
