How the financial choices of Italians change, CDP meets students in Turin

TORINO (ITALPRESS) – The presentation of the book “Family and Savings – How the financial choices of Italians change”, published on the occasion of 175 years from the foundation of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, has stopped in Turin. The volume analyzes the distribution and management of resources having as reference the dimension of daily life. The role played by savings for development in recent decades and its perspectives, in light of the continuous economic, geopolitical and social transformations, were the topics at the center of the meeting, hosted at the College Carlo Alberto. “In almost two centuries of history – said Giovanni Gorno Tempini, president CDP – Cassa Depositi e Prestiti supported Italy’s growth also through the fundamental leverage of savings. As a Development Bank, our role is to convert this heritage into active resources and concrete initiatives to finance development and innovation. An increasingly central theme considering that there is a lever not sufficiently used that is that of non-productive savings. I thank the Carlo Alberto College who has hosted us and the young students who have listened to us, the protagonists of the future of the country”.
In addition to the president of CDP, Giorgio Barba Navaretti, president of the Fondazione Collegio Carlo Alberto; Ezio Raviola, Councilor of the Compagnia di San Paolo Foundation; Luigi Guiso, professor at Einaudi Institute for Economics and Finance; Giovanna Nicodamo, professor of Financial Economics at the University of Turin and Mariacristina Rossi, Commissioner COVIP and professor of Political Economics at the University of Turin.
“To understand and deepen the characteristics of Italian savings – commented Barba Navaretti – is extremely important, especially in moments of great uncertainty like those we are living. The Carlo Alberto College Foundation is at the frontier in research on these issues and also on the difficult issue of financial education. We were honored to have hosted the presentation of the book edited by Professor Luigi Guiso and to celebrate in Turin the 17th anniversary of the foundation Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, that in its almost two centuries of life has preserved and increased the postal saving and has well used it for the growth of the country”.
To confirm the close link between CDP and the territories, the conference was also an opportunity to present the latest figures on Piedmontese savings for 2024. The total of bank deposits at regional level is 6.6% of the national figure. In particular, with regard to postal savings, the Good Fruits and Books issued by CDP and distributed by Italian Posts count in the territory approximately 1.7 million subscribers customers of approximately 4.4 million bonds between Goods and Books, for a total of 22 billion euros. Only in 2024, in Piedmont more than 3 billion euros of Good Postal Fruits were sold, corresponding to 8% of the total amount placed in the year.
