ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Italians increase, this year, they will make Christmas gifts (81.5% from 79.9% of 2024); among them, women stand out, over 55 and residents in the North West of the country. Among the most sought-after gifts, are confirmed at the first places: food and wine products, wines and liqueurs (19.7%), personal care products and beauty treatments (15.2%), clothing, footwear and sports articles (13.2%); down the charts, streaming subscriptions, tickets for shows and concerts, smartphones and consumer electronics, jewelry and watches. This is what emerges from the data of a Christmas consumption survey 2025 realized by Confcommercio in collaboration with Format Research.
Two Italians on three will buy gifts in both physical and online stores, while 23.6% exclusively at traditional stores, especially large shopping centers and neighborhood shops. As for the budget, which, on average, remains substantially in line with that of last year, almost 9 Italians out of 10 will spend up to 300 euros while it increases slightly (from 13% to 13,2%) the share of those who will spend beyond that figure. And, with regard to expenses, among those who perceive the thirteenth, 22.8% use it to support the expenses for the house and the family, 22.1% allocates it to saving, 20.2% to the payment of taxes and bills and almost 18% to buy Christmas gifts.
