Fumarola “Responsibility, participation and cohesion for the future of the country”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “Thank you very much to all. Look at this square. Look at you. This is Cisl. It is you.” With these words the general secretary of Cisl, Daniela Fumarola, opened his intervention today in Rome from the stage of the national event of Cisl, in front of thousands of workers and workers, pensioners and pensioners, young people, delegates and delegates from all over Italy. “They are the faces, the stories, the fatigue and dignity of millions of workers and workers, pensioners and pensioners, of young people who do not surrender. We’re here because we want to change tomorrow. We are here not for a simple testimony, but for pride. Because Cisl is there. There has always been. There is today. And there will be tomorrow.”.

In his long speech, Fumarola reiterated the nature and mission of Cisl: “This is not a “against” square. This is the place of responsibility. The square of Cisl”. The General Secretariat addressed the international framework, starting from the war in Ukraine: “From four winters, war has returned to the heart of Europe. Because Ukraine is Europe. Defending Kiev is not geopolitical: it is freedom against bullying. It is democracy against autocracy. It is right against violence.” cited also the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella: “To be foolish, peace evoked by those who, moving war, demand in reality to impose their own conditions.”.

A strong call to the Middle East: “Two peoples, two states. It’s not a slogan. It is the only way.” Ample space has been dedicated to the great transformations in progress, from climate crisis to artificial intelligence: “We are not those of “stop everything”. We are the ones who say: Artificial Intelligence govern it. Let’s take it. But it serves something about all: that the person never comes after the algorithm”

. Fumarola then described the daily difficulties that cross the country: Insufficient wages, dear life, public health, youth precariousness, gender differences, pensions eroded by inflation, not self-sufficiency, occupational safety. “Every death at work is not a fatality: it is a national shame.” The role of Cisl as an independent and reformist union is strongly challenged: “We are not the union of the “so much worse, much better”. We are the union of autonomy. Free. Don’t change anyone. We are the union that prefers a real conquest to a hundred press releases”.

In the passage dedicated to the Law of Budget, the General Secretariat has recognized the positive elements obtained also thanks to the union action – from the cutting of Irpef to the premiums of productivity, from health to the unique ZES – but has evidenced the criticalities still open. Particular concern was expressed for the lack of refinancing of the Fund on participation: “The participation is not humiliated. We turn to President Meloni: refinance early and refinance everything. Otherwise the Cisl will be able to raise the flags in a different way.” Priorities include: school, university and research, poverty policies, non-self-sufficiency, fairer pensions, a real industrial policy and a national strategy for the post-NRR.

The heart of the Cisl proposal is the “Pact of Responsibility”, founded on participation, consultation and co-responsibility between institutions, work and enterprise. Three sites listed: 1. higher wages and proximity bargaining; 2. new safeguards and a Statute of the person in the labour market; 3. full implementation and refinancing of the law on participation. An appeal was also addressed to the business world, politics and other trade union organizations: “The challenge is not to negotiate against, but to build together. Or the work is back to the protagonist or else will occupy that space.” In closing, the image of the square as a message to the country: “This square is not a place: it is a message. A quiet force, but stubborn. A force that does not accept the idea that the future is written elsewhere.” The intervention ended with an appeal to unity and hope: “The future is not expected, it does not apply: it is built. Come on, Cisl. Come on together. Live Italy! Live the Cisl!”.
