Crédit Agricole in Italy aims to exceed 6.5 million customers

MILANO (ITALPRESS) – Crédit Agricole has unveiled today the Medium-Term Plan 2028, which presents important news also for Italian activities led by Hugues Brasseur, CEO of Crédit Agricole Italia and Senior Country Officer. Among the main targets of Crèdit Agricole in Italy are the consolidation as Universal Bank and an organic growth path that aims to exceed 6.5 million customers (+0.4 million by 2028). The expected profit would represent about 20% of the profits of the Crédit Agricole Group, confirming Italy as the second domestic market and a solid generation of profit. Hugues Brasseur said: “With the Medium Term Plan 2028, leveraging the expertise of all business lines, Crédit Agricole in Italy confirms its sustainable growth strategy, based on digital innovation, service excellence and commitment to customers, colleagues and territories.”
In the field of innovation, investments are strengthened to accelerate the development of Blank Italia, a company created to simplify the financial management of free professionals and micro enterprises, through a completely digital application. Thanks to this operation the service model for the segment will be strengthened and further improved the acquisition.
The Plan also focuses on further strengthening the presence in the Mid Corporate segment, thanks to the solidity of Crédit Agricole Italia and the international experience of CA Corporate & Investment Bank, and a new approach to longevity: Thanks to the experience gained by Amundi and CA Vita, among the initiatives is the creation of an investment consultancy tool and solutions able to bridge the pension deficit. As part of the Specialised Financial Services, Agos will complete a transformational plan to improve the customer experience that will touch all relationship modes and contact channels also thanks to advanced IT implementations. In addition, the CA Autobank offer for the automotive sector is increasing, for ever more sustainable mobility.
For Crédit Agricole Italia, already a leader among the universal banks in Italy for Customer Recommendation Index – IRC, the goal is to further improve the high standards of customer satisfaction by continuing to confirm itself at the top of the sector.
There is also an increase of approximately 4 billion of the stock of uses for Mid Corp and Corporate, through the strengthening of the territorial network and the revision of the service model (expansion in new territories and strengthening of the specialized model with focus on ESG, Structured Finance/M&A and Real Estate/Hospitality).
With regard to the digital strategy, the role of the App Crédit Agricole Italia will become a reference tool for the acquisition and for the phase of sale and post-sale, thanks also to the synergies with all the mètiers present in Italy. Also in the digital focus on the internalization of IT skills, with the extensive use of AI through the strengthening of the AI Factory and the adoption of a model of “Agentic workforce” and cybersecurity. The increase in digitalisation in credit processes will encourage the automation of the “pre-qualified” loans, with the aim of reducing response times.
Particular attention will be paid to the further strengthening of leadership in the mortgage market and the Agri-Agro segment, as well as the evolution of the Service Model for SMEs and Professionals, with the development of a new platform for third-party networks.
Finally, the commitment to ESG issues through full support for enterprises in the energy transition, credit supply for green construction, loans and financing for energy conversion, the development of insurance covers for climate and catastrophic risks and energy production financing from renewable sources, which will increase six times.
With regard to the global objectives of Crédit Agricole, the Group aims for 2028 to a net profit of 8.5 billion and to reach 60 million customers.
