The Committee of the Presidency of the General Council of Italians is meeting in Rome on 18 and 19 November with the order of work on the priority themes of the agenda of the CGIE of the second quarter: dissemination of language and culture, teaching of the history of migration, reform of the CGIE.
Fix the agenda for institutional exchanges: At the beginning of the work the Board will meet the Secretary for Foreign Affairs Giorgio Silli, who will illustrate the Government Report and the Director-General of DGIT of MAECI Luigi Maria Vignali; the point will be, among other things, on the follow-up of the agenda approved by the Plenary Assembly last June, including those relating to proposals for amendments to the reform of citizenship and for the safety of the vote abroad. On Wednesday 19th the Board will also meet Ambassador Riccardo Guariglia, Secretary General of the Farnesina.
Leader of institutional comparisons, the Budget Law 2026 in question to the Senate and the chapters of expenditure relating to policies for Italians in the world and their representation (Com.It.Es. and CGIE), which must be ensured the resources necessary for carrying out the activities provided for by law. It will also discuss the appropriation for the elections for the renewal of the Committees, scheduled for next year, which in the opinion of the General Council is not sufficient to guarantee the broadest participation in the vote. It will also once again be called the Fifth Plenary Assembly of the Standing State-Regions-PA-CGIE Conference, which should have been held last year.
In program also the start at the Farnesina of the working table with the CNEL, which follows the interinstitutional agreement signed last October, and the meeting with Paolo Masini, president of the cda of the Foundation National Museum of the Italian Migration of Genoa, in order to realize the relations between the two organisms according to the valorization of the history of emigration and its teaching in schools, priority theme of the recent circular CIE.
Important dates will characterize the two Roman days: First of all, the first International Conference of Italofonia, organized on impulse by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani and in collaboration with the Società Dante Alighieri, within which the Community of italophony will be established. The Conference will take place on Tuesday 18 at Villa Madama and will see the participation of the General Secretariat of CGIE Maria Chiara Prodi at the round table entitled “Italofonia as a community of values and dialogue”. The 19th afternoon, moreover, will be held at the ISMA Hall of the Senate of the Republic the conference “Italians in the world: citizenship and identity – How the rules, safeguards and services change” organized by the European Mediterranean Associations ETS and the South of the World ETS, which will intervene, in addition to the General Secretariat, the Deputy Secretary General of the Area of CGIE, Mariano Gazzola, Silvana Mangione and Giuseppe Stabile.
