ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “Italian fashion requires special attention today. The data are significant: in 2024 we recorded a drop in exports of 4% with a -3% in the first seven months of 2025 compared to the same period last year. Numbers confirming criticality and pushing us to continue an important work on the sector. What emerges from data analysis is a two-speed scenario: next to companies in great difficulty there are others who manage to keep and, in some cases, to grow. As you can see, the picture is complex and requires targeted and differentiated answers.” Matteo Zoppas, President of ICE, said this at the press conference of presentation of Pitti Uomo. “The Government has demonstrated full awareness of this urgency with the opening of two tables on fashion promoted by the Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani and the Minister of Enterprises and Made in Italy Adolfo Urso. As a Country System – ICE, SACE, SIMEST and Cassa Depositi e Prestiti – we respond to the challenge with a coordinated and determined commitment – continues -. In a context of rapidly changing markets, incoming activities remain central, bringing in Italy buyers and strategic operators selected together with category associations. But also the activities with which we witness the strategic moments of Fashion in Italy as the fashion week and the activities with which we bring companies abroad.”.
“Only in 2025, thanks to the ICE support, Pitti Uomo has hosted 580 operators between buyers and journalists in the two editions and there are over 4,000 operators involved in the different Pitti Salons of the fashion chain. At the same time, we accompany our companies abroad with particular attention to SMEs that need more support in the internationalization path – Zoppas points out. In the two years 2024-2025 we organized 19 collective participations at international fairs involving 675 Italian companies. Also in this work the constant dialogue with category associations is fundamental to intercept the real needs of the sector. Our goal is twofold: to support companies in difficulty and to value those that have growth potential on global markets. Made in Italy in fashion remains a strategic heritage of the country and deserves every effort to overcome the difficulties of the moment”.
