NAPOLI (ITALPRESS) – “Dear President, I write with my heart full of conflicting emotions and with a deep sense of respect for her, for the party that represents and for the political community to which I had the honour to belong. Yesterday evening I received my second warranty notice in just over a year. It was news that, while not surprising me completely, I was deeply hurt.” Thus begins the letter that Maria Rosaria Boccia sent Stefano Bandecchi to announce the withdrawal of his candidacy in the regional elections in Campania. The entrepreneur of Pompei was listed in the colleges of Naples, Caserta and Salerno with Size Bandecchi that supports the mayor of Terni, Stefano Bandecchi in the race at Palazzo Santa Lucia. It is to him that Boccia addresses: “I have thought for a long time – he explains – trying within me the strength to make a decision that was not born either from impulse or bitterness, but from lucidity and sense of responsibility. This last year was, for me, a painful and tiring journey. I lived days full of tension, hostility and injustice. I was overwhelmed by a wave of media and political hatred that deformed my image and undermined my serenity. I paid a very high price in terms of physical and mental health: Sleepless nights, constant stress, a condition of deep prostration that led me to a physical invalidity and even a severe alopecia. I have come to the conclusion that I would not have the strength to face a similar calvary again. For this reason, with great pain but with as much awareness, I decided to withdraw my candidacy to the Regional Council of Campania”.
In the long letter, Boccia rewinds the tape by telling how he lived the last months so intense under the media and judiciary point of view. “We have in front – he writes – a system that defends the powerful and abandons those who dare to challenge him. A system that protects certain public figures, guaranteeing them preferential lanes, while leaving in oblivion the legitimate demands of those who do not belong to the ‘A series trip’. I chose not to bend, not to silence, to UNEVER to the silence imposed by a power that demands obedience.” Finally a thanks to Bandecchi “for defending me firmly, for the affection and esteem that has always shown me” before greeting. “This choice – says Boccia – is not a surrender. It’s an act of respect. To her, to the party, to the truth. Politics, when authentic, is an act of love and courage. And I, even from outside, will continue to believe in our project, because it represents the concrete possibility of changing a system that, too often, punishes those who dare to be free.”.
