Tumor of the prostate, a campaign of Europe Man invites to play of anticipation

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – Taking care of your prostate health takes less time than you think. This is the direct and immediate message of the campaign with which also this year Europe Man Italy, the association for years in the field for the prevention and care of the tumor of the prostate, with the unconditional support of Ipsen, comes out in November. Creativity, set in front of the San Siro Stadium, is mainly aimed at men with a familiar and everyday language, that of sports passion: If it takes a few minutes to buy a ticket from the Champions League, just a few minutes to make a screening that can save your life. Why precipice should play: early diagnosis is simple and fast. According to Global Action on Men’s Health (GAMH, the global network of male health organizations) prostate cancer is currently the most diagnosed cancer in men in 112 countries and the main cause of death for cancer among men in 48 countries. Globally, nearly 3 million new diagnoses per year will be held by 2040 and the mortality rate will increase by 85%. In 2024, around 40,192 new cases are estimated in Italy. In our country prostate cancer represents 19% of all male tumors and is expected to increase 1% each year until 2040. The prostate cancer is asymptomatic in its early stages: does not give obvious signals, but can be easily identified thanks to simple and non-invasive controls. The first step is a simple blood test, which measures the level of the PSA (specific prostate antigen); if superior to the norm, it is an alarm bell to be deepened with a urological visit. “The early diagnosis of the tumor of the prostate, with the examination of the PSA followed by the urological visit, must become a habit of all men from 50 years (even before, from 40 to 45 years, if there have been cases in the family) without waiting for symptoms to appear – explains Bernardo Rocco, Director of the UOC of Urology of Fondazione Policlinico Gemelli Irccs of Rome and president of the Scientific Committee of Europe “Prevention must not be feared nor take time: it is enough the same speed with which we organize our everyday life – says Claudio Talmelli, President of Europe Man Italy -. The prostate cancer, if diagnosed in time, can be treated effectively and with invasive treatments. Do not wait for symptoms and talk to your doctor is essential because early diagnosis could save your life. This campaign is aimed at men by inviting them to include prevention among their regular health habits.” The mission of Europa Uomo Italia is to remind every man of the importance of periodic checks and to ensure that all Italian citizens have access to quality diagnosis and care so that they can live healthier and longer. Europe Man Italy has been committed for years to raising public awareness about the importance of early diagnosis and supporting those who live with prostate cancer. “ Our commitment to the world of health is constant and in particular oncology represents for Ipsen a therapeutic area of primary importance that has seen us present for about a century. In this area awareness is key because through proper prevention you can really change the course of pathologies such as prostate cancer – states Patrizia Olivari, President and CEO of Ipsen Italy -. We are happy to support the awareness campaign promoted by Europe Man because an early diagnosis can involve more personalized treatments, faster recovery and the possibility to continue to live full a quality life.” The campaign will be protagonist throughout the month of November on the channels of Radio Sportiva and on the app and site Fantacalcio from 21 to 28 November to raise awareness of men on the prevention of prostate cancer.
