Tony Sasa, the merchant between wine and sounds

It can be the content of the wine, “spirit”, but also that indomitable and polyhedra soul that is Tony Sasa. A man able to feel the wine, the territory, the Italian beauty that flows in the veins, but also equipped with an international vision: at 6 years he was cooking with his grandmother and playing the drums and in 1993 – 1999 he moved between Genoa and Chicago to make catering.

What’s Tony doing? Something unique. Last May in Cannes, for the Better World Fund charity event, he brought together high-caliber personalities. Among them the founder of U-Boat, Italo Fontana.

In Beverly Hills on November 18, 300 guests will participate in the auction of a Ferrari, will attend a show of the Cirque du Soleil, taste an extraordinary wine of the Tenuta Il Palagio and will have the exclusive shoes of an artisan of the Marche, Marco Massetti, perfect for driving and delicious to see.

Tony is like the connector: it combines wonderful Italian realities to the world, with preference for the USA.

His knowledge of wine is immense, but not only: Tony is naturally prone to finding artisans and small companies capable of making a difference. Suffice it to think that he received the honor of Knight of the work precisely for the activity carried out from 2001 to 2006, aimed at expanding the horizons of small artisanal realities around the world.

20 anni di degustazioni

Basically, in Tony’s path, there were 20 years of tasting alongside journalist Daniel Thomases, who tasted about 3,000 wines a year.

This experience has given me a broad view of the territory. Small wineries often don’t make it alone

explains Tony, who recently joined the board of the Italic-Us Foundation.

In 2001, Tony Sasa opened its company, whose mission is to find importers interested in the products of small and medium-sized companies of value.

They asked me, for example, any denomination and I addressed them to companies that would then have continuity in that market

In 2006, Tony – who in his wandering between East and West of the world has a fixed base in Florence – opens the Enoteca Pontevecchio.

Since 2009 he has been collaborating with La Tenuta Il Palagio, owned by Trudie Styler and Sting. Today Tony is the commercial director of this wonderful organic company with a wide quality production that includes wine, extra virgin oil, honey and more.

By virtue of this experience, Tony Sasa has now been involved in the Marche Region for the promotion of the territory.

How many know excellences like the Vernaccia di Serrapetrona? Or the Red Conero? ”

Sound of Wine

Tell the territory, beauty, sounds, while tasting, in a sort of synesthesia. The Sound of Wine project, conceived by Tony Sasa, is spectacular. And he tells it with the enthusiasm of those who feel it already realized.

Imagine having a glass of Etna red at the same time when the video starts, the small short film that makes you run through the slopes, pass by Randazzo and after a few moments part the voice of soprano Mariam Battistelli and the rhythm of percussionist Trilok Gurtu.

Or we go to Manduria to tell the Primitivo, not through the words of the enologist, or rather, not only: we tell him by leveraging on visual, auditive, gustatory emotions

Also for the Marche region – but it could happen for each Italian region – Tony has the same expressive record: a short film focused on the events of young couples, protagonists of funny scenes, such as to enter the restaurant of a star chef and not understand anything about the wine card.

A little bit to dehydrate the narrative often excessively serious, a little to involve the public

In the end, however, to be protagonist is always beauty.
