The former mayor of New York Giuliani is admitted to Florida: conditions would be critical

Rudolph Giuliani, former New York mayor and particularly central figure of American politics in recent decades, is admitted under critical conditions in a Florida hospital. His spokesman Ted Goodman spokesman, who spoke of a “critical but stable” condition, but did not provide further details on the structure or causes of the shelter. Giuliani is 81.

The former mayor of the Big Apple had already manifested recent health problems and had gradually withdrawn from public life. In the summer of 2025 Giuliani was involved in a road accident in New Hampshire, reporting the fracture of a vertebra: in some subsequent apparitions he had been seen in a wheelchair.

Giuliani was mayor of New York City from 1994 to 2001, after defeating Democrat David N. Dinkins. Its administration is mainly remembered for the urban security policies of the nineties and for the management of the city after the attacks of 11 September 2001, when it assumed a leading role in the institutional response to the emergency.

In the following years, Giuliani returned to the centre of the scene as a personal attorney for Donald Trump during his first term. His involvement exposed him to numerous investigations, particularly in relation to attempts to challenge the outcome of the 2020 presidential election.

After Trump’s release from the White House following Joe Biden’s victory, Giuliani faced several civil proceedings and causes for disfamation. He was also removed from the lawyers’ lobby.

In the meantime, Trump commented on the news of the appeal by defining it as a “combatant” and relaunching, once again, his accusations against the Democrats on the 2020 vote.
