Los Angeles celebrates the protagonists who wrote the story of American television. On Thursday, August 13th, in the ballroom of JW Marriott L.A. LIVE, the Television Academy brought together actors, producers, authors and great names in the industry for the 28th edition of the Television Academy Hall of Fame, the recognition dedicated to personalities who have left an extraordinary and lasting mark in the world of TV.
An evening in the heart of the entertainment losangelino which saw seven authentic legends enter the Hall of Fame: Ted Danson, Jean Smart, Ted Sarandos, Sheila Nevins, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, along with 60 Minutes journalist Ed Bradley, posthumously rewarded.
Names that tell very different souls of American television. From the career of Ted Danson, a serious face became part of popular culture, to the talent of Jean Smart, to Trey Parker and Matt Stone, creator of the irreverent South Park universe. On the front of the industry, the recognition to Ted Sarandos, co-CEO of Netflix, instead emphasizes the radical transformation lived by television in the era of streaming. To introduce him on stage was Jerry Seinfeld, who did not give up his usual irony jokingly about being at the ceremony to celebrate Sarandos and not to receive himself the recognition.
Sheila Nevins, a leading figure in American documentary production, and Ed Bradley, one of the most authoritative voices in American television journalism.
On the red carpet and in the hall, many Hollywood protagonists accompanied the honors. Among the faces of the evening also Hannah Einbinder, along with Jean Smart and Ted Danson, on an event that has combined memory, industry and glamour on the eve of the new television season.
And among the American excellences celebrated in Los Angeles there was also an important signature of Made in Italy. Franciacorta, partner of the Television Academy, accompanied the evening, bringing in the heart of Hollywood one of the territories symbol of quality Italian wine production, signing one of the symbolic moments of the ceremony. Rick Rosen has invited the honors of the 28th Hall of Fame at the official toast with Franciacorta, transforming for a few moments the stage of Television Academy in a small showcase of Italian excellence in Los Angeles.
A night dedicated to those who have changed television, therefore, between great careers, laughter, memories and new chapters of American entertainment. And if entering the Hall of Fame is a goal reserved to very few, last night at least on one rewarded thing and stars were all agreed: to celebrate the legends of TV, the toast spoke Italian.
