ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “We must rediscover the political soul of Europe, our Jewish-Christian roots, the principles of humanism, the state and the law, the centrality always and anyway of the person. We must also create conditions for a Europe that can make effective and fast decisions. It also serves a more democratic Europe: This is why I continue to insist on the indispensable need for the European Parliament, like all the parliaments of the world, to have the power of legislative initiative. This would allow citizens to get closer to European institutions, which unfortunately in many people feel sometimes distant.” Thus the Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, at the 18th Conference of Embassies and Ambassadors in Rome.
“In the face of a complex international scenario, the government has firmly established the two cornerstones of its foreign policy, the transatlantic relationship and Europe – Tajani emphasized. The government immediately established excellent relations with the new American administration, as were excellent ones with the previous one. Our position is clear: the United States cannot do without Europe and Europe cannot do without the United States. On the basis of this assumption, Italy is at the forefront of fostering relations between the two sides of the Atlantic, also encouraging dialogue between the European institutions and Washington”.
“The international framework in which we live puts foreign policy at the centre of our public debate. In the face of so many unknowns, there is a certainty: Italy and the government led by Giorgia Meloni are increasingly leading globally. Peace, development and growth: these are the cornerstones of our action, always putting the person in the center,” said the vicepremier.
