Strage di Ustica, Mattarella “Recomposing what happened remains an indispensable duty”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “ 46 years have passed since the massacre in the skies of Ustica. On this day of recollection and memory, the thought of closeness and solidarity goes first to the families of the victims, stratiated by an unacceptable event and a deep pain that time cannot soothe. In the history of the Republic the sign of that catastrophe is not erasable. Eighty-one lives were destroyed. All passengers and crew members of the DC9 departed from Bologna and headed to Palermo died. So many bodies that didn’t find burial. The reconstruction of what happened has long remained nebula, the path of search for truth, however, was traveled and led to significant results. Recomposing what happened on the Tyrrhenian Sea in that tragic June 27, 1980 remains an indispensable duty.” The President of the Republic said so, Sergio Mattarella in a message.
