DALL’UE ALTRI 6,1 MILIARDI PER LA DIFESA AEREA
The European Commission has approved a new financing of 6.1 billion for the purchase of war material for Ukraine. This funding will cover air defense and missile systems, missiles, ammunition and radar, reaffirming Europe’s commitment to support Ukraine’s defence and resilience against “the continuous Russian aggression”, reads in a note.
Today’s approval is added to the 16 billion already foreseen in supply plans, of which 8.35 billion have already been granted, ensuring Ukraine receives essential supplies in the times and quantities necessary. Most contracts will be supplied by EU defence companies. Given the intensification of Russia’s use of ballistic and drone missiles, the Commission stresses “the need for a significant increase in EU supplies through the reduction of stocks, reorganization of orders and increased production.”.
For the President of the Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, “on the Independence Day of Ukraine, Europe shows that its support is unwavering and concrete.
