Referendum, “No tensions, if the yes wins the magistrates will continue to have the same guarantees of autonomy and independence”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “The referendum campaign comes alive. I will vote yes to the reform of justice because I consider the text corresponding to the spirit of Article 111 of the Constitution on the third party of the judge. But what I vote, as well as the intention of this or that other political personality, is not the fundamental point. The Italians in fact are perfectly able to direct themselves independently provided that the comparison can take place without ideological preconceptions”. Thus the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, in an interview with the newspaper “Il Tempo”.

“I am today in my beloved Bologna not so much to give an indication of vote – he continues – but to participate democratically in a discussion on an important topic and to invite a reflection on the need to find a civil way of comparison in the merit of the reform avoiding exasperation. We are faced with a reform that has been legitimately proposed and will be submitted to the Italian people in compliance with the rules. Let us see how it goes, without sensationalism about what will happen from the next day”. But what will happen in case of victory of Yes?

“In case of victory of the Yes, the magistrates will have the same guarantees of autonomy and independence they enjoy today – he emphasizes. And it would be an unfounded process to support the contrary. I’m a witness that no one thinks of moving the pm under the Executive. Neither this hypothesis can be found anywhere near the reform. To support the opposite means deliberately supporting the false.”.

And in case of a victory of the ‘No’, he assures Planting, “Italy would remain with a fully solid and absolutely legitimised government on the political and constitutional level to move forward. I don’t think that Landini and Schlein have resigned after last June’s referendum defeat on important issues such as citizenship and work. In the past, on similar occasions, he was challenged to personalities of previous governments to have made the mistake of politicizing a constitutional referendum. For this reason we should all appreciate the attitude of President Meloni who asks to avoid polarization and to look at the text of the reform and not the political scenario,” he concludes.
