TELEION CATANIA (ITALPRESS) – The inauguration of the new Integrated Operating Room “Teleion”, a technologically advanced infrastructure dedicated to the Operational Unit of Gynaecology and realized within the project “Endometriosi Sicilia”, which sees the ARNAS Garibaldi as a Regional Reference Centre together with the ARNAS Palermo Civico.
At the inauguration, hosted at the Hall of Endocrinology of Garibaldi-Nesima, took part in the Regional Councillor for Health Marcello Caruso, the General Director of ARNAS Garibaldi Giuseppe Giammanco, the Administrative Director Carmelo Ferrara, the Director of the Unit of Gynaecology Giuseppe Ettore, as well as numerous civil and military authorities of the territory.
Also present are the rector of the University of Catania Enrico Foti, who brought the institutional greetings of the Catania University, Gaetano Galvagno, who addressed the institutional greetings of the Sicilian Regional Assembly, and Nicola D’Agostino, promoter of the regional law on endometriosis.
The latter recalled how the Sicilian Region, while starting from a situation initially characterized by strong criticality and care shortages, has succeeded today to become one of the most advanced realities in Italy in taking charge of endometriosis, thanks to the approval of a dedicated regional law, the construction of a structured specialist network and significant investments in technologies, training and welfare paths.
In his speech he also stressed the importance of the introduction of the regional PDTA, which allowed to uniform the diagnostic-therapeutic and welfare paths throughout the Sicilian territory, guaranteeing patients greater continuity of care, timely access to specialist treatments and a multidisciplinary management of pathology.
“Today Sicily – he said – is no longer a reality late, but a model of national reference on a topic of great health and social impact, thanks to a shared work between institutions, health professionals and centres of excellence such as ARNAS Garibaldi”.
There were also the General Directors of the three health and hospital companies in the province of Catania. The new room is an important step forward in the path of technological innovation and health modernization of the Hospitaller Company, with the aim of improving the quality of care, the safety of patients and the efficiency of surgical procedures, also in other specialized branches.
Teleion technology allows the digital integration of all operating room equipment, allowing centralized management of video systems, imaging, clinical documentation and advanced surgical support, thus optimizing interventions and promoting greater operational precision, reduced surgical times and more effective multidisciplinary collaboration among specialists.
The realization of the project at ARNAS Garibaldi was made possible thanks to the work of the Provveditorato Sector, directed by Valentina Russo, with the technical support of Alfredo Amico and Pasquale Casillo, who followed the activities of development and implementation of the technological infrastructure.
“Technological innovation is today a fundamental lever to guarantee Sicilian citizens an increasingly efficient, modern and close to the needs of people. This project is a concrete example of investment in the quality of care, patient safety and the strengthening of the regional network dedicated to endometriosis,” said the Regional Councillor for Health Marcello Caruso.
The inauguration of the new technological infrastructure is part of the widest path of health growth and modernization undertaken by ARNAS Garibaldi, oriented to the strengthening of high specialization, to the innovation of surgical paths and to the valorization of professional training in the gynecological and multidisciplinary field.
“This new infrastructure represents an additional part of the growth and modernization path undertaken by our company. We continue to invest in advanced technologies, professional skills and organizational innovation to provide citizens with ever higher standards of welfare and consolidate the role of ARNAS Garibaldi as a high-specialised health reference point for the entire regional territory,” said ARNAS Director General Giuseppe Giammanco.
The project takes on a strategic value in surgical gynecology and endometriosis treatment, in which ARNAS Garibaldi is one of the main regional reference realities.
“This innovation will allow us to further improve the mini-invasive surgical approach, increasing precision, safety and quality of care for patients. It is also a fundamental tool for the formation of young surgeons and for the development of the multidisciplinary network dedicated to endometriosis in Sicily”, said Giuseppe Ettore.
The new Integrated Teleion Operator Room is also part of the broader development project of the Sicilian Endometriosis Network, aimed not only at the implementation of specialist care and assistance, but also at the formation of new generations of surgeons and health professionals.
Today’s inauguration has been underlined, confirms once again the role of ARNAS Garibaldi as a high-specialised health reference point for the entire regional territory, capable of combining innovation, research, assistance and training.
