Pope Leo XIV “Stop attacks, urgently reopen spaces of dialogue in the Middle East”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “I follow with apprehension the permanence and the insistence of violence in the Holy Land, of which many civilians have been victims lately. I renew my heartfelt appeal for you to return to negotiate for a fair political solution based on the equal dignity and equal rights of every human person and to reject new military actions and unilateral decisions, in particular those that violate respect and status quo of holy places of every religious faith.” Thus Pope Leo XIV at the end of the Angelus in Castel Gandolfo, returns to invoke peace in the Holy Land.

“I recall my call for situations throughout the Middle East, where the intensification of military operations has brought violence and destruction, putting gravely at risk the lives of numerous civilians and aggravating the shortage of drinking water and electricity. From the bottom of the exhort heart all parties involved in suspending attacks and urgently reopening areas of dialogue and diplomacy, to reach as soon as possible the peace so desired throughout the region,” he added.

“In the face of the devastating fires that in these days have affected various places of France and Spain, I manifest my closeness and invite everyone to pray for the affected people and for the work of the rescuers,” the Pontiff said.
