ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “The World Refugee Day was celebrated yesterday, promoted by the United Nations on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Convention on the Status of Refugees. Born to protect those who are persecuted and forced to leave their land, home and family, I hope that the spirit that aspired the elaboration of this important international instrument will continue to illuminate the consciences of the leaders of the Nations. Nobody can turn on the other side in front of those seeking protection and security. I also urge everyone to welcome those who are victims of persecution so that they can live in peace, dignity and look to the future with hope.” Thus Pope Leo XIV addressing himself to the crowd at the end of the Angelus in St. Peter’s Square.
