ROMA (ITALPRESS) – Kawasaki has undersigned a Memorandum of understanding with the Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS. The MoU defines a framework for exploring forms of collaboration in the development of new generation healthcare solutions, based on medical robotics, robotics to support health processes and digital transformation technologies applied to health, in cooperation with the Kawasaki Centre for innovation and research and development based in Strasbourg, France, Kawasaki Innovation Centre Europe SAS.
MoU reflects the shared commitment of the parties to promote health innovation, increase medical excellence and address social challenges through improving patient clinical paths and optimising resources through new robotic and digital technologies.
In this context, Kawasaki and the Gemelli University Polyclinic will collaborate on the joint development of new-generation healthcare solutions aimed at improving patient care. The agreement also provides for the creation of a joint permanent development hub within the hospital, in support of development activities, proof of concept projects and validation initiatives.
As part of his vision for the health sector, “Co-Creating the Future of Healthcare”, in March 2026, Kawasaki started KIC-EU activities to promote the creation of new optimal solutions and configurations for health and welfare contexts. Through this innovation hub, Kawasaki intends to contribute to the progress of global health, bringing together different people, businesses and organizations to collaborate, experience ideas and generate new value.
KIC-EU currently promotes the development of calibrated solutions on local needs through co-creation with healthcare professionals, care providers, enterprises with advanced technologies and research institutions across Europe. As a first step, Kawasaki aims to create and provide “one-stop integrated solutions” that combine products and technologies of the Kawasaki Heavy Industries Group, including hinotori surgical robotics system, semi-humanoid robot Nyokkey, the FORRO robot for internal deliveries and indoor and outdoor positioning solution mapxus Driven by Kawasaki, along with artificial intelligence technologies and remotely.
Through these initiatives, Kawasaki aims to address challenges such as improving operational efficiency in hospital management, freeing system resources to invest in improving care and access to care for patients.
Working closely with medical professionals in real clinical contexts, Kawasaki will carry out a continuous cycle of development, application and validation on the field, improvement and further development. With this approach, the Company aims to create a value that meets the needs of healthcare environments and accelerate their practical application in society.
The partnership with the Universitario Gemelli is the first partnership between KIC-EU and a European health institution. In the future, Kawasaki will work with the Gemelli University Polyclinic to realize its vision of one-stop integrated health solutions, enhancing technologies and products of the Kawasaki Heavy Industries Group, including hinotors and Forro.
