ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “With regard to the Mercosur Agreement, as already stated in Parliament by President Meloni and reiterated also to the President of Brazil Lula, the Italian government is ready to sign the agreement as soon as the answers necessary to farmers are provided, which depend on the decisions of the European Commission and can be defined in a short time.” A note from Palazzo Chigi reports it.
The President of Brazil, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, reported in a press point in Brasilia that he had a conversation with the President of the Council, Giorgia Meloni. According to Lula, at the center of the interview was the agreement Ue-Mercosur. “He told me that it is not contrary to the agreement,” Lula said, adding that Meloni would ask, however, to “patient” at most a month, because of the Italian farmers’ opposition to the agreement. According to Lula, Meloni would have said he was convinced that he could convince the category to accept the agreement.
