In these four years of fighting the Ukrainian people for the defense of their freedom and independence, Italy has always secured its constant and convinced support together with its European and Western allies.” So Palazzo Chigi in a note. “Italy contributes with determination to international efforts to promote a just and lasting peace. In this perspective, the Government supports and accompanies the negotiating process promoted by the United States and participates in the activities of the Coalition of the voluntarians for the definition of solid security for Ukraine – continues the note of the Presidency of the Council -. The resolution of the conflict represents a priority European strategic interest, essential to guarantee the security of the continent and therefore of Italy”.
“Italy is also paying special attention to the urgent humanitarian needs of the Ukrainian population. A programme of supply of generators and boilers is currently underway to support the Ukrainian energy system, which is fundamental for civil resilience. At the same time, an initiative has been launched to supply health equipment for the maternal-infantil departments of hospitals located in the most affected areas of the attacks – says Palazzo Chigi. This humanitarian commitment is the precondition for the future reconstruction of the nation, to which Italy participates with a leading role, as testified by the organization of the Conference for the reconstruction of Ukraine in July 2025. On these grounds, the President of the Council, Giorgia Meloni, today intervened in video-link to the meeting of the leaders of the coalition of the voluntarians. The goal remains to create conditions for the Ukrainian population to live in peace in full respect of sovereignty and territorial integrity. The Government will continue to contribute to the efforts of the international community dedicated to this goal,” the Presidency of the Council concludes.
