Oppositions attack Brunetta's salary increase, for Cnel it is mere fulfillment

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – A resolution of the Cnel raises the salaries of the staff, bringing the salary of President Renato Brunetta from 250 to 310 thousand euros a year, and the political storm is unleashed. Sixty thousand euros a year more. The Cnel, with a note, lets you know that “it does not correspond to the true thing reported on November 6 from the newspaper ‘Il Domani’ when in relation to the Cnel you write: ‘For the 1.5 million more tops’ and then the subject of articles also published on other publications. It is, with every evidence of a series of errors – whether or not it does not matter – that altogether contribute to distort the conduct of absolute regularity and legitimacy to which the Cnel informs its activity”.

It therefore underlines that it did not carry out any “adequacy but was limited to giving due application to the judgment of the Constitutional Court n. 135 of 9 July 2025, which restored from 1 August, the payable roof of 311.658.53 euros”. The decision in question declared illegitimate the maximum limit of 240 thousand euros to the compensation for public employees, introduced by the Renzi government.

In 2014, in fact, a bill had established that the salaries of public employees could not exceed the salary of the first president of the Court of Cassation, pairs precisely to 240 thousand euros. The hardest attack comes precisely from the leader of Italia Viva, Matteo Renzi, who, as president of the Council, fights, with a constitutional reform, also for the abolition of Cnel. “Dice Meloni, she will never do what I did. The middle class pays taxes, the Cnel spends them with Brunetta”.

What does not go down to opposition is not only the increase in salaries, but also the fact that the organ, led by Brunetta, rejected the proposal of minimum wage. “I brought to Meloni the proposal to increase salaries to 4 million workers with minimum wage”, the background of the president of M5S, Giuseppe Conte. “There, for that reason, he became interested in the proposal and said that he would work with Brunetta’s Cnel to measures for salaries. We broke up like this and then? No minimum wage, but the salaries of the Cnel and Brunetta leaders have increased, the refunds to ministers and undersecretaries. As real wages collapse and we have record taxes. President Meloni: Is that right?”.

To Avs “ indexing wages is the minimum and to prevent renewals from being postponed to infinity, they should be automatically triggered with double inflation. We imagine that Brunetta agrees, since the salary has increased, while millions of workers do not have the same power. They still wait for the minimum wage, renewal of contracts and salaries adequate to the cost of life. Words are not enough: laws, resources and political will are needed. On the inequalities, Brunetta preferred to silence: but they are the ones that threaten social cohesion and democracy.”.
