Nordio “On the referendum the Am is afraid to confront me”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The date of the comparison “is still to be fixed, but only they who hesitated: I declared myself available. I believe that the minister should confront the representative of the Anm and not the simple representative of a committee of the ‘nò. Then they are obviously afraid to confront me because their objections are unavoidable from a legal point of view and also from a logical point of view.” Thus the Minister of Justice, Carlo Nordio, on the margin of the presentation of his book “A new justice”. “If the most radical objection is what we want to subject the pm or even the judges under the executive power, just read article 104 of the reform” to understand that “not only the judiciary remains independent and autonomous, but even the prosecutor is raised in his constitutional guarantee at the court level, which is not today,” he added. “Today the Constitution assures independence and autonomy to the judge, not to the public ministry: we elevate independence and autonomy to the same public ministry, so they should be grateful for it. But it is such evidently the misinterpretation that they give of this referendum, which according to them is punitive, for which they come to these illogicalities that are incomprehensible, especially if they come from magistrates that – at least by definition – should have a firm intellect”, he underlined Nordio.
For the minister “this referendum has nothing to do with politics, it is neither against nor in favour of the Meloni government, the Minister of Justice or Parliament. I hope that in this we maintain a peaceful, rational and legal discussion on a reform that according to us is the logical conclusion of an initiative started by Giuliano Vassalli, hero of resistance, more than 40 years ago”.
