Mountain municipalities, no agreement between regions. Calderoli moves deadline to 13 January

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – During today’s session of the Unified Conference, the Regions asked Minister Roberto Calderoli for a further extension of the time regarding the criteria for the classification of the Mountain Municipalities as the Conference of Regions has not reached an agreement.
So, in the absence of a unified proposal from the Regions, Minister Calderoli once again said he was available for a new postponement and fixed the final deadline on 13 January.
“The objective, as already reiterated on previous occasions, is to reach a unitary agreement between the Regions, which will then be subjected also to Provinces and Municipalities – reads in a note -. The minister therefore confirms the commitment to listen to the needs of all territorial entities and to work for a shared solution that recognizes and values the truly mountainous realities, in compliance with Law 131 and the Constitution, thus resolving the obvious paradoxes of the current list. In confirming its commitment to dialogue and collaboration, Minister Calderoli reiterated the request for seriousness for a proposal that respects the real high lands and above all stressed the need for fair collaboration at this stage.”
“Unfortunately there are some regions that are publicly opposed to the criteria established by the 6 experts but do not even participate in the works of the technical commission, compromising the work of all others. My hope is that the Regions will be able to meet in a constructive way and that by 13 January it will be possible to reach a shared, positive and good sense proposal to reach a result as transversal and representative of the true Italian mountain”, concludes Calderoli.
