CATANIA (ITALPRESS) – The Fontana Metro Station of Catania has now become a temporary health resort thanks to “SPIRO-METRO”, the initiative promoted by ARNAS Garibaldi in collaboration with the Circumetnea Railway (FCE) to offer free spirometries and specialist advice to citizens.
The event, made possible by the commitment of the staff also on the weekend, was coordinated by the UOC of Diseases of the Apparate Respiratory of the Garibaldi-Nesima, directed by Dr Rosario Oliveri, with the support of the pneumologa Giusy Biondi and the health team.
“An initiative like this – said the general manager of ARNAS Garibaldi, Giuseppe Giammanco – made possible thanks to the availability of our colleagues even on a day like Saturday, allows us to meet a more free and more willing user to participate. Dedicating a day to people, to prevention, is a concrete gesture that helps improve the response of our regional health system”.
“Premature functional diagnosis of lung diseases – Dr. Oliveri said – is the first step in the therapeutic approach to ingravious and disabled diseases. For more than a year, access to the Garibaldi-Nesima Presidio, connected to the Fontana Station, improves and promotes the path of diagnosis and care of patients. This collaboration strengthens the link between institutions and communities, promoting healthcare excellence.”.
During the day, citizens of all ages have checked and asked questions to specialists, in a climate of dialogue and awareness about respiratory health.
“I am happy with this initiative that puts together the Garibaldi and the Metro – added Alfio Saggio, president of the Order of the Medici of Catania – The slogan today is one: prevention. We hope that from this day, which is expected to be fruitful, a positive message starts, because prevention is the only way to reduce the number of patients and ensure a real sustainability of the health system”.
Over two hundred the spirometries carried out.
