Milan, Sala “Significant damage after clashes, serve more forces of order”

MILAN (ITALPRESS) – “I am making a verification because it is right that private and communal try to rival those who have to manage the order. Evidently, damage is significant.” This was said by the mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, live on RTL 102.5, talking about the damage caused by the clashes during the event in the city.

“The phenomenon worries me a lot because it is new, it derives from an international scenario and is self-powered,” Sala explained, stressing that during the procession they opposed “a peaceful part and a violent fringe”.

The mayor invited not to confuse peaceful protest with episodes of violence and expressed doubts about the management of public order: “The impression is that you are underestimating the situation and that there was no consciousness of what was happening. It seems to me that it was so many against a few”, he said, referring to the presence of violent protesters and the number of agents in Piazza Duomo.

“We must be prepared: these are organized on the net. Obviously you can’t do it right now, but we have to be able to monitor. And the forces of order, in these manifestations, must be more”, added Sala, according to which it is a widespread phenomenon in Europe on which “intelligence must take a step forward”.

The mayor also launched an alarm on the risk of uncontrolled reactions within the community: “I fear that even within the community there are ‘all against all’. Sala reported that on the net they were circulating posts, “you do not understand from those sent”, which reported some boys present at the protest. “We risk getting to justice you do,” he warned, recalling that “we are not prepared to manage these escalation” and that it is a new situation.
