Meloni “Our presence in Greenland is to be discussed in NATO”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – “I think that the issue of strengthening security and the presence of allies in Greenland is a serious issue, but it is within the framework of dialogue within the Atlantic Alliance, that is, Greenland must be considered a territory of responsibility of NATO. The question that the Americans pose is a serious matter, of course, and I believe that the reasoning of strengthening our presence is a reasoning definitely necessary to do within the Atlantic Alliance. I think that, however, is the area in which to discuss this matter, even for what possibly concerns our presence.” Thus the President of the Council Giorgia Meloni in a press point at the embassy of Italy in Tokyo.

“We know the assertive methods of the American president. I think it’s a way to signal a real problem more strongly. In recent years perhaps there has been a subassessment of a strategicity of an area that is particularly important today – added the premier – I consider very difficult a military intervention of land. I think the matter is political and politically resolved, even with a greater commitment of all for a strategic area for all. So we talk and solve problems.”.

SULL’IRAN: “LAVORARE A DE-ESCALATION, SOLIDARIETA’ A CHI MANIFESTA PER I DIRITTI”

“I think we have to work for a de-escalation. It is what Italy continues to do. I also spoke with the Sultan of Oman, who had a very important role in negotiations with us. I want to reiterate my solidarity with the Iranian people and to those who legitimately manifest for their rights and for a better future. I don’t think manifesting your rights can be paid with life. Of course, we condemn the repression and killings of the Iranian regime, we ask Iran to ensure the safety of citizens who want to manifest, but we are working for a de-escalation and to return to negotiations concerning the nuclear dossier,” said Meloni, speaking of Iran.

SU GAZA: “ATTENDIAMO LE DECISIONI SUL BOARD, SIAMO DISPONIBILI AD UN RUOLO DI PRIMO PIANO”

On the board of peace for Gaza “we are still waiting for final decisions, we saw that it was presented a few minutes ago the executive board, therefore more operational, the political one still misses and on this I would expect that there is office. What I can say is that we have always given and are giving our readiness to have a leading role in the realization and construction of the peace plan for the Middle East, which we consider a unique occasion in a very complex and very fragile context.” Thus the president of the Giorgia Meloni Council, during a press point at the Italian embassy in Tokyo. As to the hypothesis of his presence in Davos, Meloni added: “At present we are not expected, international commitments are a bit many, except that there may be summit meetings on Ukraine or even on Gaza. To those we have always participated and in this case we will participate”.

SUI DAZI: “CONTRARIA, MA NELLA DICHIARAZIONE NON C’E’ RIFERIMENTO A TRUMP”

“You know what I think about duties, because I have always said it. You know I don’t agree that allied countries raise tariff barriers, but in the case of the statement I understand it could be read like this.” Thus premier Giorgia Meloni at a press point at the Italian embassy in Tokyo, on fears for raising trade barriers, as contained in the joint document of Italy and Japan, but not concerning Trump’s American policy. “In reality, the references – he explained – are basically two: one of a bilateral nature and one of a global nature. Bilateral nature concerns many of our products. We, clearly, when we try to strengthen our cooperation with Japan we also ask for greater openness for our products, especially for some agri-food products. We spoke with the Prime Minister yesterday, I think, for example, ham.”.

“There are some issues that concern us and that we are trying to unlock, even to signal this greater and renewed cooperation. The global question, however, – added Meloni – concerns all the topic that is mentioned in the document of production overcapacity, unfair trade practices and the use of export blocks as a tool to resolve disputes. So the references, even with respect to those that are the facts of the last few weeks, should be fairly clear and do not refer in this case” to Trump, “even because tariff barriers are never mentioned, non-tariff barriers are cited and therefore the question in this case should be framed in another way and in other contexts.”.

SULL’INCHIESTA CHE RIGUARDA IL GARANTE DELLA PRIVACY: “MI FIDO DELLA MAGISTRATURA”

On the investigation concerning the Privacy Authority “I have no elements to judge, I refer to the judiciary, of which I trust”, said Meloni.
