Mattarella “The protection of health and safety in workplaces is based on the principles of the Constitution”

ROMA (ITALPRESS) – The President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, on the occasion of the 76th National Day for the victims of accidents at work, sent to the President of Anmil, Amedeo Bozzer, the following message: “The choice of Longarone as a place of the 76th National Day for Victims of Workers recalls one of the most serious environmental disasters occurred in our country and plays a warning of what is necessary to place the life and dignity of each person at the center of every choice, starting from collective ones and those that characterize the contexts of production and work”.

“The protection of health and safety in workplaces finds its foundation in the principles of the Constitution. From them comes a concrete duty: to intervene on the risks before they are translated into accidents, through effective prevention, adequate training and protective measures capable of optimizing, for this purpose, technological and organizational changes of work” adds Mattarella.

“The role of ANMIL, free association aimed at supporting with its activities, including representation, injured, survivors and their families, is precious. It is a commitment that combines the protection of rights with concrete support for people and accompaniment in the paths of inclusion and social and working reintegration, after the accident. In this sense, ANMIL operates as a real agent of the Constitution,” says the Head of State.

“The victims of accidents at work and their families go the moving thought and commitment of the Republic. This Day recalls institutions and social forces to an unelude responsibility: to do prevention a permanent activity, so that no work can jeopardize the life of those who carry out it,” he concludes.
